About Us

Our Story

Heal Together was founded by high school sisters Zoe and Ava Weissman. Just 12 years old, Zoe was sitting outside at the middle school adjacent to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School when her life was forever changed. Additionally, Ava has felt the lasting impact gun violence has left in her community. In the years since this tragedy, they have turned their grief and anger into advocacy. Zoe has become a prominent figure within March For Our Lives, an organization founded by Parkland students with the goal of ending gun violence, while Ava has been leading the March For Our Lives school chapter since 9th grade. In 2022, Zoe and Ava founded Heal Together as a way to connect fellow survivors of gun violence. They know that the experience of surviving such a uniquely traumatic event can be isolating and easily misunderstood. They believe that by creating a network of gun violence survivors, we can all Heal Together.
